I am pleased to advise that the WFOT Bulletin (October 2015) has now been published online. This edition of the Bulletin is themed on human rights and accessible via the WFOT websitehttp://www.wfot.org/Bulletin.aspx (Member login)
Overview of content
"Occupational therapists are stepping up to the challenge of human rights with hope" that is the message of the guest editorial (Bryant & Kramer-Roy). The WFOT has a strong commitment to Human Rights evidenced through the establishment of an International Advisory Group (IAG): Human Rights, the development of a Position Statement on Human Rights and the WFOT's commitment to embed the principles of Human Rights and Social Justice into the fabric of its documents and publications (Pattison).
Articles in this Bulletin reflect on the historical shift on human rights in rehabilitation approaches (Mousavi et al), on a sociological analysis of human rights in Latin America in relation to human rights (Cordoba & Galheigo), on social change and occupational justice (Hocking &Townsend), and on the confusion which can be embedded in new inclusion laws (Harra & Solminen), among other concerns. The breadth of discussion and proactive approach of all the themed articles supports the Message from the WFOT President of the importance of human rights in all aspects of occupational therapy throughout the world.
